D.A. Studio Competitive Program

Letter of Commitment 2024-2025

This document outlines the commitments of a member of the D.A. Studio Competitive Team.

Dancer Obligations:

I agree to attend my technique class each week. I acknowledge that technique is an important component of my performance training.

I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to attend competitive classes on a regular basis. I acknowledge that instructors have been asked to strictly enforce the “three strikes” rule, whereby any student missing more than three classes, including for medical reasons, will be asked to leave the program. No refunds will be provided.   Frequently "sitting out" during class will result in needing a doctors note, as to not count as a strike.

I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to meet these attendance requirements and that I will not ask the Directors and/or teachers to make exceptions.

I agree to come to class on time, in proper attire and footwear, including hair tied completely off of my face and with a positive attitude. I agree that I will behave appropriately in the classroom and acknowledge that competitive classes are hard work and require that I give the instructor my complete attention at all times.

I agree to practice skills and choreography at home as directed by the teachers.

I acknowledge that electronic devices (e.g. phones, cameras, laptops) are not permitted during practices. Teachers reserve the right to take these devices away from students until the end of class.

I acknowledge that instructors may use a recording device to film practices as part of the training program. I agree that any slander towards D.A. Studio, staff, students or volunteers will not be tolerated this includes on social media. If proven that this was done I acknowledge that I will be asked to leave the program with no refund. NO EXCEPTIONS.

I agree to attend any and all competitions D.A. Studio Directors chooses to attend. In 2024-2025, the competitions are :

This Is It: April 25th-27th 2025

Onstage Dance Production: May 8th-11th 2025

I agree to attend the recital.

I agree that I will behave appropriately and in a sportsmanlike manner, as a member of D.A. Studio, at all competitions.

Parent/Guardian Obligations

I acknowledge that I am required to pay competitive class  fees. I agree to pay these fees either in whole, or through a mutually acceptable payment plan negotiated with the Directors of  D.A. Studio. 

I acknowledge that it is important for my dancer to attend class, be on time for each class and attend all competitions. I acknowledge that the “three strikes” rule will be enforced, meaning that any dancer missing more than three technique or competitive classes, including for medical reasons, will be required to leave the program, without any refund issued. Frequently "sitting out" during class will result in needing a doctors note as to not count as a strike.

I acknowledge that dancers may be asked to leave the competitive program, without any refund issued, due to persistent behaviour or attitude problems, which may include: inattention during class, lack of respect for teacher/teammates, any negative social media slander, unsportsmanlike conduct or lack of effort at practice and competitions.

I acknowledge that instructors or Directors may use a recording device to film practices as part of the training program. I further acknowledge that I will raise any safety concerns related to the filming of my child upon registration.

I acknowledge that competitions are sometimes run on school days/nights and it may be necessary for my child to miss a half day or more of school to participate. I further acknowledge that competitive schedules are not issued by competition organizers until 2-3 weeks in advance of the event.

I agree to ensure my child has all components of his/her competitive costume at all competitions. This includes all pieces of each costume. Hair styles and makeup requirements will be determined by instructors and communicated in advance of the first competition. Dancers must provide makeup or hair accessories (i.e. eye shadow, blush, bronzer, mascara, lipstick, curling irons, bobby pins, elastics, hair spray, hair gel, deodorant). Dancers are encouraged to purchase enough makeup and hair accessories for the entire season in advance of the first competition and label each item.

***** I Understand that D.A. Studio will do its best to provide a "as normal as possible year" following all government regulations, including continuing classes virtual if need be as we understand that THE SHOW MUST GO ON, but NO REFUNDS will be issued*****
